Payment Methods

Private Pay payment methods include:

  • Debit or Credit Cards
  • HSA
  • FSA

By paying out of pocket, you are afforded greater privacy and control over your time in therapy. Insurance companies require a clinical diagnosis for reimbursement, and many will request additional information about your treatment, so that they can determine the number and types of sessions that they will cover.

It is possible that the information that is collected by your insurance provider will be incorporated into your medical and impact your future rates and/or coverage.

By choosing or opting into private pay, you get to choose your own autonomy of how you move forward in session and how you would like to utilize them.

Please Note: Private Pay is the ONLY payment method accepted for Couples Therapy. Refer to Couples Therapy page under FAQs for further information.

Health Insurance plans accepted for Connecticut Residents Seeking Individual Therapy ONLY, which includes:

  • Aetna
  • United Healthcare
  • Optum

If you do not see your insurance listed here, but you are aware that it falls under Aetna or United Healthcare, you can contact us to find out if we accept your insurance plan.

Please Note: If you decide to utilize your health insurance benefits, please call your insurance provider ahead of our consultation, so that you can better understand/verify your financial responsibility for therapy sessions.

The amount you may or may not have to pay for sessions, is dependent on your specific insurance plan that you or family member chose. If you have a deductible, you can discuss with your health insurance provider regarding how to meet it.

Health insurance members have varying deductibles and/or co-payments. Again, please verify what your individual health plan covers for mental health sessions ahead of our consultation because it can be similar or different from medical services. This way, there are no surprises moving forward with services.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
